Wailea Beach Path is one of South Maui’s easiest coastal outings: a mostly paved shoreline route through Wailea that works as a relaxed walk, an energetic jog, or a scenic way to link a few of the area’s best beaches. It sits in the resort zone south of Kihei, but it is more than a hotel-front promenade. The path opens up public access to a polished stretch of coast, with big Pacific views, seasonal whale watching, and enough flexibility to fit around a beach day, breakfast, or sunset.

The route runs about 1.6 miles one way, so a full out-and-back is roughly 3.2 miles. The main tradeoff is that this is a developed coastal walk, not a wild trail. It is beautiful, but it is also exposed, popular, and surrounded by resort activity. Shade can be limited, so sun protection and water matter more than they might on a forested Maui trail. Footing can also vary where pavement gives way to boardwalk or sand, especially if you wander near the beach edges. Ocean conditions deserve normal caution too: the path is scenic, but the water access it connects to still calls for attention to surf, current, and posted warnings.

It is less compelling for anyone seeking solitude, rugged terrain, or the feeling of being far from development. For that, Maui’s more natural hikes are a better match. But for a polished South Maui walk that still delivers beach access, ocean views, and a strong sense of Wailea’s coastline, this path is hard to beat.
