Parking is free but limited, with approximately 20 spots, and can fill up quickly, especially during peak hours. Arriving early in the day is recommended to secure a spot and enjoy calmer conditions before afternoon winds often pick up. An alternative, though slightly longer, parking option is at the trailhead to Dragon's Teeth (Makaluapuna Point), requiring about a quarter-mile walk back to the beach entrance. There are no reservation systems for beach access or parking.

Amenities at Oneloa Beach are minimal; there are outdoor showers for rinsing off, but no public restrooms or food vendors. Visitors should bring their own supplies, including snacks and beverages. The beach is not ADA accessible, and the stairway leading down to the beach can be steep.

It is advisable to observe the ocean for several minutes before entering, paying attention to wave sets and potential "sneaker waves." If caught in a rip current, the safest course of action is to remain calm, conserve energy, and swim parallel to the shore until out of the current before attempting to swim back to the beach at an angle.

The shoreline can be rocky, particularly near the main access point, and slippery rocks are a hazard. Visitors should be mindful of potential marine life like sea urchins and jellyfish. After heavy rains, runoff can cause "brown water" advisories, indicating potential pollutants, and swimming in such conditions should be avoided.

For those visiting the north end of the beach, there's a slight risk of golf balls from the adjacent golf course. The beach trail itself is subject to erosion, and the access stairs are steep. Due to the parking lot being set back from the beach, it's recommended not to leave valuables in vehicles. It is crucial not to confuse this Oneloa Beach with the much larger "Big Beach" (also called Oneloa) in South Maui's Makena, which is known for its extremely powerful and dangerous shore break. Another nearby beach, Mokule'ia Bay (Slaughterhouse Beach), also offers secluded beauty but requires navigating a long staircase for access and has distinct snorkeling characteristics.
